The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has issued a strong warning to aspirants seeking the party’s ticket for the 2027 general elections, urging them to avoid violence, disorderly conduct, and any actions that could disrupt the electoral process.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

He advised all contestants to remain peaceful and demonstrate sportsmanship by accepting the outcome of free and fair primaries, stressing that internal party contests must be conducted with maturity and respect for democratic rules.

In a statement issued on Monday through his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda cautioned that the party would not hesitate to sanction any aspirant or supporter found instigating violence, sponsoring unrest, engaging in anti-party activities, or attempting to compromise the integrity of the primaries. He noted that such offences could attract strict disciplinary action, including suspension.

He emphasized that while ambition is natural in politics, it must not be allowed to override the collective interest of the party or threaten national stability. According to him, only one candidate can emerge in any contest, and what truly matters is the manner in which participants conduct themselves throughout the process.

Yilwatda also commended President Bola Tinubu for what he described as a strong commitment to strengthening democratic institutions and improving internal party processes. He urged members of the party to align with the President’s broader vision and avoid actions capable of creating political tension in the country.

He added that the current administration’s “Renewed Hope” agenda is focused on building a stronger and more prosperous nation, warning against what he described as divisive or self-serving politics that could undermine ongoing progress.

The APC chairman further called for unity and support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, saying ongoing infrastructure projects across the country are designed to boost economic growth, create jobs, improve market access, and strengthen national competitiveness.

He assured all aspirants that the party remains committed to fairness, inclusiveness, and internal cohesion, pledging that it would continue to provide leadership aimed at promoting development and national progress.
