Kano APC Peace Talks Hit Rock Bottom As ALGON Chair, Husband Snub Reconciliation Panel.

Published

The reconciliation process initiated by the Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections has recorded mixed participation, as some stakeholders engaged the process while others stayed away.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The committee, set up to resolve grievances among aspirants and party stakeholders, has begun holding meetings across federal and state constituencies in the state.

It is chaired by former APC National Treasurer, Hon. Bala Muhammad Gwagwarwa, with Prof. Nura Yaro Dawakin Tofa serving as secretary. Other members include Hon. Mutari Ishaq Yakasai and former Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Zahara’u.

The panel was inaugurated to promote unity within the party and prevent internal disputes from weakening the APC ahead of the 2027 election cycle.

As part of its mandate, the committee invited aspirants and stakeholders from the Doguwa/Tudun-Wada Federal Constituency, an area witnessing growing political rivalry between the incumbent House of Representatives member, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, and another aspirant, Salisu Yusha’u.

Doguwa attended the reconciliation meeting held at the Kano State Government House, while the Chairperson of Tudun-Wada Local Government and Kano State ALGON Chairperson, Hajiya Sa’adatu Salisu Yusha’u, and her husband, Salisu Yusha’u, were absent.

Their absence has sparked concern, especially after Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf earlier directed APC aspirants to return to their constituencies, engage stakeholders, and work toward consensus candidacy.

Confirming developments, the committee secretary, Prof. Nura Yaro D-Tofa, alongside Hon. Mutari Ishaq Yakasai, stated that both Hajiya Sa’adatu and her husband did not attend the session.

They added that the reconciliation exercise is ongoing and has so far covered more than seven federal constituencies and 13 state assembly constituencies across Kano State.

According to them, the process has been largely peaceful, and the committee remains optimistic about completing its assignment successfully.

Doguwa Secures Stakeholders’ Support

Stakeholders from the Doguwa/Tudun-Wada Federal Constituency had earlier endorsed Alhassan Ado Doguwa as their preferred APC candidate for the 2027 elections.

The endorsement was reportedly acknowledged by Governor Yusuf as part of broader efforts to reduce tensions and promote consensus-building within the party.

However, the development has further heightened political interest in the constituency, given the rivalry between Doguwa and Salisu Yusha’u.

Despite the setback caused by the absence of key stakeholders, the reconciliation committee reaffirmed its commitment to fostering unity, cooperation, and stability within the APC in Kano State.

The committee was established as part of broader efforts to resolve internal disputes and strengthen party cohesion ahead of the 2027 general elections.
