Published

The Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Kingsley Chinda, has been screened by the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of its governorship primaries in Rivers State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Chinda, who represents Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), appeared before the APC screening committee on Saturday as an aspirant for the party’s 2027 Rivers governorship ticket.

His participation in the screening exercise has intensified speculation that the lawmaker may be preparing to defect from the PDP to the ruling APC, although he has not publicly confirmed any such move.

Chinda is among two close associates of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, who have purchased APC governorship nomination forms for the contest.

The second aspirant is Dax George-Kelly, Director-General of the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA), whose eligibility has been questioned due to his current status as a political appointee.

The Presidency, through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, had earlier instructed all political appointees interested in elective offices in 2027 to resign by March 30, 2026.

Other notable aspirants in the Rivers APC governorship race include Governor Siminalayi Fubara and former candidate, Tonye Cole, as the contest continues to generate political tension within the state.

The Truth Exposed? NADECO Leaders Slam Abdulsalami Over Controversial Claims Of Military Rule Extension!.

Published

on

Col. Tony Nyiam (retd.) and Chief Ayo Opadokun, both prominent leaders of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), have disputed allegations made by former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (retd.), regarding the events of 1998. In his autobiography, Call of Duty, Abdulsalami alleged that certain NADECO leaders privately requested that he extend his military transition program, and he further asserted that the late MKO Abiola was not poisoned.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Regarding the alleged request for an extension, NADECO leaders offered the following clarifications:

  • Col. Nyiam stated that he is unaware of any recognized NADECO leader—such as Chief Anthony Enahoro or Gen. Alani Akinrinade—who requested a continuation of military rule.

  • Nyiam emphasized that the group’s primary objective was to end military governance, not extend it.

  • Chief Opadokun explained that Abdulsalami likely misinterpreted their discussions; he clarified that NADECO abroad had urged the military leader to facilitate a “people’s constitution” prior to elections and had advocated for a government of national unity led by MKO Abiola.

Furthermore, the NADECO leaders expressed skepticism concerning Abdulsalami’s account of MKO Abiola’s death. Col. Nyiam rejected the claim that Abiola was not poisoned, stating his belief that the late presidential winner was “done away with by those who did not want him to govern”.
