Dickson: NDC Emerged After PDP Foundation Was Seriously Weakened.

The National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has stated that the party, despite early resistance, is here to stay.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking on Saturday in Abuja at the party’s inaugural National Convention, Dickson said the NDC has, within a short period, gained an unprecedented level of public acceptance, enthusiasm, and trust in Nigeria’s political history.

He stressed the importance of sustaining multi-party democracy in the country, noting that the NDC was formed after it became evident that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had been weakened and its founding ideals compromised.

The former Bayelsa State Governor recalled that the party’s registration process faced both administrative and legal hurdles before it was eventually approved by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) following a court order.

He added that there is currently no valid appeal challenging the registration of the NDC, insisting that the judgment has been fully implemented and that the window for appeal has expired, with INEC being the only body with the legal standing to challenge it.

Dickson also praised the judiciary for upholding constitutional rights to freedom of association and commended INEC, particularly its chairman, for complying with court rulings that led to the registration of the NDC.

He further called on INEC and the judiciary to ensure the survival of all political parties in Nigeria, including PDP, APC, Labour Party, SDP, NNPP, and others, emphasizing the need for both strong ruling and opposition parties to sustain democracy.

Addressing claims of legal disputes over the party’s registration, he maintained that no appeal exists against the court judgment and that INEC has already complied with the ruling.

The NDC leader also revealed that former presidential candidates, Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, have joined the party after consultations, describing their entry as a major political development.

According to him, their involvement represents a powerful alliance of political experience, administrative capacity, and national influence aimed at reshaping Nigeria’s political future.

    • The President took to Truth Social to claim that consumers are being “gouged” because pump prices have not fallen in line with the significant drop in oil costs.

    • This action follows intense public pressure regarding the economic impact of the Middle East conflict, specifically how Iran’s previous blockade of the Strait of Hormuz caused global oil prices to skyrocket in February.
