Fresh Crisis In Governors’ Forum As 20 Governors Push Against Uzodimma.

A fresh leadership crisis has reportedly engulfed the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) amid claims that about 20 governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have passed a vote of no confidence in its chairman and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The governors were said to have accused Uzodimma of financial misconduct and expressed loss of confidence in his leadership of the forum.

According to reports, the development followed an extraordinary meeting held on Thursday night in Abuja, shortly after Vice President Kashim Shettima submitted President Bola Tinubu’s presidential nomination forms.

Two APC governors quoted by Premium Times claimed that the forum resolved to replace Uzodimma with Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, as the new chairman.

One of the governors stated, “If you are accused of impropriety, you should step down or render account.”

Another governor explained that the PGF, being a voluntary association, is not bound by the same procedures as legislative bodies like the National Assembly, adding that members have the right to change leadership when necessary.

Both governors maintained that Uzodimma had effectively been removed and that Mbah had taken over as chairman.

The governors were also said to have raised concerns about Uzodimma’s leadership style, alleged financial irregularities, and what they described as unsatisfactory responses to the allegations.

They reportedly informed President Bola Tinubu of their decision, although it remains unclear whether the President has intervened in the matter, which sources say had been building for weeks.

About 20 governors were said to have participated in the meeting either physically or virtually.

Those reportedly backing the move against Uzodimma include governors from Adamawa, Zamfara, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Rivers, Bayelsa, Benue, Niger, Kwara, Nasarawa, Plateau, Enugu, Ebonyi, Ogun, Borno, Taraba, Katsina, Kebbi and Kano states.

On the other hand, governors said to be supporting Uzodimma include those of Yobe, Lagos, Gombe, Kogi, Edo, Ekiti, Ondo, Sokoto, Jigawa and Kaduna states.

However, the Progressive Governors Forum Director General, Folorunso Aluko, dismissed the report, insisting that no such meeting or decision took place.

In a statement, he described the claims as false and without basis, stressing that Uzodimma remains the chairman of the forum.

“The PGF secretariat has no record of, and is not aware of, any resolution removing the Chairman. His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, remains the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum,” the statement read.
