Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has officially joined the race for the 2027 presidency after obtaining the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential nomination form.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to reports, former Edo State Governor, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, led a delegation of political stakeholders to pick up the nomination form on Amaechi’s behalf at the ADC national secretariat in Abuja on Friday.

The forms were later handed over to Amaechi’s representatives by the party’s Deputy National Organising Secretary, Atiku Mohammed.

With this development, Amaechi becomes the second aspirant to formally enter the ADC presidential contest, following Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, who had earlier secured both the expression of interest and nomination forms.

Meanwhile, the ADC is currently grappling with internal leadership disputes and multiple court cases, which have continued to shake the party’s stability.

The crisis has also triggered the exit of some prominent figures, including former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, who both moved to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

However, ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, dismissed claims linking their departure to internal crisis, insisting the defections were pre-planned political decisions.

Despite the ongoing disputes, ADC National Chairman, Senator David Mark, has maintained that the party remains committed to contesting the 2027 general elections.

The Senator representing Gombe South Senatorial District, Siyako Anthony Yaro, has officially defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement made available to journalists, Yaro said the decision followed wide consultations with his constituents, stressing that it was not taken lightly.

His defection comes after he lost the APC senatorial ticket for the 2027 elections through a consensus arrangement within the party.

Yaro explained that his return to the PDP was informed by the party’s earlier support for his political journey and its role in giving him the platform to pursue developmental goals for Gombe South.

He described the PDP as the party that first embraced the collective aspirations of the district, including improved infrastructure, better education, accessible healthcare, and empowerment for youths and women.

The senator dismissed any suggestion that his move was driven by political desperation or inconsistency, insisting it reflects accountability and commitment to his constituents.

He urged his supporters to view the decision as a courageous step taken in the interest of the people, reaffirming that his loyalty remains with the electorate.

Yaro also expressed gratitude to his supporters for their continued trust and declared his readiness to seek re-election in order to continue serving the district.

He said he is prepared to “run, win, and defend the interests” of his people, while calling for unity and focus among residents of Gombe South.

According to him, the future of the region should be determined by the people rather than political maneuvering, stressing that they must remain the true architects of their own destiny.

Sowore Demands Fresh Probe Into El-Rufai, Ganduje Over Dadiyata’s Disappearance.

Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has called on the Nigeria Police Force to summon and question key political figures, including former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, former DSS Director-General Yusuf Bichi, and former Attorney-General of the Federation Abubakar Malami (SAN), over the disappearance of activist Abubakar Idris, popularly known as Dadiyata.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a Facebook post on Saturday, Sowore expressed skepticism about the ability of the police to conduct an impartial investigation into the case, given the involvement of high-profile individuals.

He therefore demanded the establishment of a Judicial Commission of Inquiry to investigate the matter, insisting that the named former officials, alongside a former Inspector-General of Police, should be compelled to give evidence.

Sowore stated that he does not trust the Nigeria Police Force’s IGP Monitoring Unit to fairly handle an investigation involving powerful political actors, arguing that only a judicial panel can ensure transparency and accountability.

He specifically called for the invitation of El-Rufai, Ganduje, Yusuf Bichi, and Abubakar Malami, alleging their possible links to the case.

Dadiyata, a lecturer and vocal social media commentator based in Kaduna, was reportedly abducted from his home by unknown persons and has remained missing for nearly seven years.

Meanwhile, the current Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, had on Friday ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Police Monitoring Unit to investigate a petition concerning allegations linking two senior police officers to the disappearance and presumed killing of Dadiyata.

Hamzat appeared before the APC screening committee on Saturday, May 9, in Abuja, where he was officially given clearance to proceed in the party’s primaries.

Speaking after the screening exercise, the Lagos governorship aspirant expressed satisfaction with the outcome, describing it as a positive step forward in his political journey.

He also reaffirmed his readiness to build on existing developments in Lagos State and push for greater progress if given the opportunity to lead.

He added that the goal is to consolidate on the current foundation and work towards a more inclusive and developed state, stressing that he remains committed to the journey ahead.

Meanwhile, reports indicate growing tension within the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), the platform of APC governors, as leadership disagreements deepen.

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, who chairs the forum, has maintained that he remains in charge alongside his deputy, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani.

However, a rival bloc is said to be emerging within the group, reportedly rallying around Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

Although no official statements have been issued by either side, party insiders say the division stems from disagreements over leadership control and political strategy ahead of the 2027 elections.
