The contest remains finely balanced at 1-1 following the first leg in Spain, with a coveted spot in the final on May 30 in Budapest awaiting the winner, who will face either Bayern Munich or Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite not recording a goal or assist in six previous meetings with Arsenal, Lookman delivered an impressive all-round performance in the first leg.

The Super Eagles star completed 95 percent of his passes in the opposition half, fired four shots with two on target, and contributed significantly defensively, earning widespread praise for his energetic display.

Atlético manager Diego Simeone commended Lookman’s contribution, particularly his improving tactical awareness and defensive commitment.

Simeone said he was pleased with the Nigerian’s performance, noting that his willingness to track back and support defensively adds immense value to the team.

The Atlético boss also acknowledged the magnitude of the challenge posed by Arsenal, highlighting the depth and quality within Mikel Arteta’s squad.

He pointed out Arsenal’s unbeaten run in this season’s Champions League, where they have won 10 matches and drawn three, describing the Premier League side as an exceptional opponent.

Former Atalanta teammate Michel Adopo also backed Lookman to shine on the big stage, expressing confidence that the Nigerian attacker could finally make his mark against the Gunners.

Adopo described Atlético as a major platform for Lookman and said he believes the winger is capable of delivering a decisive goal in such an important fixture.

Atlético head into the Emirates encounter boosted by a domestic victory over Valencia, although there was still disappointment over missed opportunities from the first leg.

In that encounter, Viktor Gyökeres gave Arsenal the lead from the penalty spot after a defensive error before Julián Alvarez restored parity for Atlético, also from a penalty, after Ben White was penalized for handball.

Simeone rotated several first-team players during Atlético’s weekend league outing, clearly prioritizing freshness and preparation for the high-stakes showdown in London.

    • Adeyemi, who claims to be the Director-General of the unrecognized Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), is currently under investigation by the Presidency for operating a fictitious entity and falsely claiming an association with Femi Gbajabiamila, the President’s Chief of Staff.

    • The Presidency has officially disavowed Adeyemi and emphasized the urgent need for security agencies to dismantle the internal network that facilitated his activities.

    • Following the discovery, the Governor reportedly ordered the Secretary to the State Government to dismiss Adeyemi immediately, though he opted not to pursue legal prosecution at the time to maintain focus on his administration.

    • While the Presidency maintains that the PFIPC does not exist, Adeyemi continues to assert that his appointment is legitimate and has leveled counter-accusations of corruption against the Chief of Staff, claims which the Presidency has rejected.
