The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Edo State has been thrown into deeper crisis following the emergence of a new State Executive led by Tony Alike.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Alike was announced as chairman alongside 23 other executive members, despite conflicting claims over the party’s leadership structure in the state.

The announcement was made by the National Collation Chairman from the party secretariat, Sem Andrew Uchendu.

The development comes just 24 hours after a National Executive Committee member, Rowland Owie, declared Nosa Ehima as the new state chairman.

Meanwhile, the incumbent chairman, Kennedy Odion, whose tenure is expected to end on May 19, said he was not aware of any congress held in the state.

Speaking while announcing the outcome, Uchendu said he supervised congresses across unit, ward, local government, and state levels over a three-day period.

He explained that party leaders in the state, led by former APC National Chairman John Odigie-Oyegun, agreed on a consensus arrangement for the new leadership.

According to him, the process was aimed at building a “well-structured leadership” for the party in Edo State.

In his acceptance remarks, Tony Alike said his priority would be to unite aggrieved members and reposition the party.

He said consultations had already begun, starting with a visit to Odigie-Oyegun.

He also pledged to unveil a policy direction in the coming days, stressing the need for national renewal and stronger opposition politics ahead of the 2027 elections.
