Ramadan Fasting Continues Friday As Eid Still Awaited — Iran And Other Countries Confirm.

Authorities in Iran have announced that Friday will be the final day of Ramadan, with Eid al-Fitr celebrations scheduled to begin on Saturday.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The announcement, broadcast on state television, cited the office of the country’s supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, following lunar observations. According to the statement, “tomorrow, Friday, will be the 30th day of the blessed month of Ramadan,” officially marking the end of the fasting period.

Eid al-Fitr, which celebrates the conclusion of Ramadan, is traditionally confirmed by the sighting of the crescent moon in line with the Islamic lunar calendar. The declaration was also supported in Iraq by the top Shia cleric, Ali al-Sistani, who confirmed a similar timeline for Ramadan’s end.

The announcement comes shortly after Mojtaba Khamenei assumed the role of Iran’s supreme leader following the death of his father, Ali Khamenei, who was reportedly killed in an airstrike at the onset of the US-Israeli conflict with Iran, referred to by the country as the “Ramadan war.”

Meanwhile, in Nigeria, a Sokoto-based Islamic scholar, Sheikh Musa Lukuwa, led his followers in Eid al-Fitr prayers on Thursday, defying the directive of the Sultan of Sokoto, Saad Abubakar, who had declared Friday as the official Sallah day.

Lukuwa conducted the two-unit Eid prayer at his Mabera mosque around 9:10 a.m., drawing a large crowd who followed his guidance. The Sultan had announced that the Shawwal crescent moon was not sighted anywhere in Nigeria, setting Friday for Eid celebrations.

Rejecting this, Lukuwa cited verified reports of the moon sighting from neighbouring Niger, explaining that the proximity of Niger—only about 100 kilometres away—justified his decision. He argued that if distant cities like Kano or Lagos are considered, confirmed sightings from nearby countries should also be accepted.

Despite defying the Sultan’s directive, Lukuwa emphasised that his decision was guided by religious duty rather than an attempt to challenge the Sultan’s authority.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.

The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.

Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.

He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.

Woli Agba disclosed this in a public notice shared on his Instagram page on Sunday.

In the notice issued by their solicitors, Gemgold, the comedians warned members of the public against publishing or circulating allegations they described as false and defamatory against them.
