According to Nivo News, the former Minister of Defence expressed deep sorrow over Monday evening’s explosions, which claimed the lives of 23 people and left 108 others injured. The attacks, reported between 6:45 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., were confirmed by the Nigeria Police Force to be coordinated suicide bombings across multiple locations in the state capital.
Kwankwaso called on both the government and security agencies to take decisive action against the perpetrators, urging that the armed forces be fully equipped and empowered to dismantle terrorist networks. He stressed that such acts of violence threaten the fragile peace Borno communities have worked to restore over the years.
In his statement, Kwankwaso also offered condolences to the victims’ families and appealed for urgent support to enable troops to defeat the terrorists. He emphasized that complacency is unacceptable and that all resources must be provided to ensure the security of citizens.
“My heart goes out to the bereaved families, the injured, and all the people of Borno State. I extend my deepest condolences to the government and citizens of Borno during this difficult time,” he wrote.
