The Nigeria Police Force in Borno State has confirmed that 23 people were killed and 108 others injured following multiple explosions that struck Maiduguri on Monday evening.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to Nivo News, authorities described the attacks as coordinated suicide bombings targeting several locations across the state capital. The blasts, reported around 7:24 p.m., hit crowded and strategic areas, including Monday Market, the gate of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, and the Post Office Flyover.
Police Public Relations Officer ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso stated that preliminary investigations indicate the attacks were carried out by suspected suicide bombers using improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The near-simultaneous strikes suggest evolving tactics by insurgent groups operating in the North-East, with the choice of targets aimed at causing mass casualties, spreading fear, and disrupting economic and social activities.
Following the explosions, joint security teams comprising police tactical units, military personnel, and other operatives secured the affected areas. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit conducted sweeps to ensure no additional devices remained. The Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid, visited the sites, offered condolences to victims and their families, and assured residents that enhanced security measures were in place.
Emergency response teams, including the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Borno State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA), assisted with evacuating the injured, who were taken to hospitals in Maiduguri for treatment. Authorities said efforts to restore normalcy across the city are ongoing, with heightened security deployed throughout Maiduguri and surrounding communities. Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities while maintaining calm.
The police command commended citizens for their cooperation and resilience, reiterating its commitment to protecting lives and property and maintaining peace and stability in the state.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.
The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.
Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.
He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.
“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.
Meanwhile, comedians Ayobami Ajewole, popularly known as Woli Agba, and Olamide Oladimeji, also known as Dele Omo Woli, have threatened legal action against individuals allegedly linking them to Toluwanisings’ death.
Woli Agba disclosed this in a public notice shared on his Instagram page on Sunday.
In the notice issued by their solicitors, Gemgold, the comedians warned members of the public against publishing or circulating allegations they described as false and defamatory against them.
The legal notice maintained that the allegations were baseless and intended to damage the reputations of the two entertainers.
