“Appeal Court Judgment Pushed Me From PDP To APC – Gov. Lawal Reveals”.

Published

The Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, has described himself as the “last man standing” in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), noting that he made every effort to stay in the party and help resolve its internal challenges.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

However, Lawal explained that Monday’s Appeal Court ruling, which invalidated the PDP’s Ibadan National Convention, effectively ended his chances of remaining in the party.

The governor, through his spokesperson Sulaiman Idris, said his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) was prompted by ongoing litigation and the party’s persistent crisis, despite multiple attempts at reconciliation and out-of-court settlements.

Lawal emphasized that he was the only governor seeking a second term who stayed with the PDP, hoping that party leaders would restore unity. But with peace efforts failing, he chose to join the APC to serve the interests of Zamfara people and sustain the “Rescue and Rebuild” agenda.

The statement added: “Governor Dauda Lawal demonstrated strong commitment to the PDP, working tirelessly to reconcile factions and enable the party to field candidates. When these efforts proved unsuccessful, legal battles arose that could have affected 2027 elections. The appellate judgment confirmed that he could no longer remain in the PDP.”

The Appeal Court had on March 9 upheld a Federal High Court ruling restraining the PDP from holding the November 2025 national convention in Ibadan, citing violations of constitutional provisions and failure to notify the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

While the Kabiru Turaki-led PDP faction has rejected the judgment and plans to appeal to the Supreme Court, Governor Lawal’s move to the APC signals a strategic shift to protect the state’s political stability and development programs.

According to the source, the twins maintained a daily routine of speaking around midnight, but the conversation took a sudden turn that night when unusual activity was noticed at the General’s end.

He said the line went dead abruptly after the General paused during the call, apparently due to the unfolding situation at the base.

The twin brother reportedly made repeated attempts to reconnect, sending messages and calling continuously, but received no response throughout the night.

“He kept trying until about 4 am, but there was no answer,” the source said.

The family later confirmed the tragedy after a senior military officer contacted them around 6:30 am, informing them that the base had come under attack and that the Brigade Commander was among those killed.

The relative described the incident as devastating, noting that communication had broken down during the assault.

The late General was later buried alongside other fallen soldiers in Maiduguri, Borno State.

He wrote, “Chiemeka Chibuzor’s wedding is hereby suspended. More than a thousand applications. No more wedding pending further directive from me.”

The cleric had earlier this week publicly invited proposals for her marriage, setting conditions that included the suitor being young and in good physical and mental health, alongside promised financial support and housing benefits.

He also said the couple would enjoy lifelong support, including shared property ownership and periodic welfare checks from church members.

The development follows a similar arrangement recently conducted by the church involving a non-verbal autistic man who was married in a ceremony organised by the ministry.
