Benue Tribunal Removes Agatu LG Chairman Melvin Ejeh, Declares Napoleon Otache Winner
The Benue State Local Government Elections Petition Tribunal, which convened at the NBA House in Abuja on Sunday, has annulled the election of Melvin Ejeh as the Executive Chairman of Agatu Local Government Area. The ruling stemmed from a petition that questioned the validity of the local government election in Agatu, one of the 23 LGAs in Benue State.
Reacting to the verdict, Ejeh condemned the tribunal’s decision, calling it a “total miscarriage of justice.” He expressed his intent to challenge the ruling through the legal system, reaffirming his belief in his rightful position as chairman.
Ejeh also appealed to the residents of Agatu to remain calm and united, despite the tribunal’s ruling. He emphasized his commitment to contesting the decision, assuring the public that his legal team was prepared to fight for the mandate he claimed had been given to him by the people. He urged the people of Agatu to trust in the strength of their case and remain supportive as the appeal process unfolds.

Reflecting on her departure from the national team, Ohale shared an emotional statement on Instagram:
“After 16 years of wearing the Nigeria jersey, representing my country and giving everything I had for this beautiful sport, I have made the very difficult decision to retire from international football… I gave this jersey my youth, my strength, my sweat, my tears, and my heart. And if I had to do it all over again, I would choose Nigeria every single time.”
She concluded her farewell message with deep appreciation, stating that she steps away from international duty carrying 86 total appearances, zero regrets, and boundless gratitude for her teammates, fans, and the nation.
Joining the global wave of recognition, CAF honored her monumental impact on African women’s football via social media, writing:
