Edo, Delta Defections Strengthen APC’s Path to Victory in 2027 – Governor Okpebholo
A significant wave of defections from prominent politicians to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo and Delta states is set to bolster President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s chances for re-election in 2027, according to Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo. Governor Okpebholo expressed optimism, stating that the defections would bring about positive governance in Delta, just as it has started in Edo. “It is our turn to shine in the South-South,” Okpebholo declared, emphasizing that the APC is ready to lead both states into a prosperous future. He praised Chiedu Ebie, Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), for his leadership and foresight in joining the movement.
National Chairman Ganduje praised the Delta Unity Group as strong champions of democracy, confident that the APC would secure victory in the upcoming 2027 elections, with over 60% of former PDP followers now in their fold. “Unity and purpose will be key to our success,” Ganduje noted, reaffirming the APC’s commitment to delivering quality governance to Delta State.
The event also saw the endorsement of the NDDC by Chiedu Ebie, who highlighted the group’s decision to join the APC as a commitment to good governance and inclusivity under President Tinubu’s leadership. Additionally, the Dein of Agbor, Dr. Benjamin Ikenchukwu, Keagborekuzi I, urged President Tinubu to prioritize national security and peace as the foundation for development.
Notable figures present at the rally included Senator Ned Nwoko, Aeke Ibori-Suenu, and former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege, among other key political figures.
