Pressure Mounts On Tinubu To Reveal Owners Of Nigerian-Linked Supertanker Seized By US Coast Guard.

The Independent Security Experts of Nigeria (ISEN) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to order an immediate independent investigation into the seizure of a Nigerian-linked supertanker, Skipper, by the United States Coast Guard and the United States Navy.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The vessel was intercepted in December 2025 over allegations of crude oil theft, piracy, and drug trafficking. Authorities also reportedly linked the supertanker to Iranian and Islamist money-laundering networks.

The 20-year-old Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC), with IMO Number 9304667, was said to be owned and managed by Thomarose Global Ventures Ltd, a company based in Nigeria, while it was registered to Triton Navigation Corp in the Marshall Islands.

Reports further indicated that at the time of the interception, the vessel was illegally flying the Guyanese flag. Records from the Corporate Affairs Commission show that Thomarose Global Ventures Ltd is listed as inactive, with its registered address at 111 Jakpa Road, Effurun, Warri, Delta State, under registration number 1007876 and no active contact numbers.

In a statement issued on Saturday, ISEN demanded a thorough probe to reveal the real owners and operators of the vessel, as well as those who may have facilitated its activities. The group insisted that everyone involved in running the rogue tanker should be identified and prosecuted.

ISEN’s Lead Expert, Dean John, condemned what he described as the exploitation of an ordinary Nigerian’s company records to carry out international oil theft, warning that such practices must not be allowed to persist.

“We demand that the Federal Government establish a high-powered panel with full prosecutorial authority to uncover every layer of this criminal enterprise.

“Every individual and entity linked to the ownership, management, and loading of the Skipper must be arrested and brought to justice. Nigeria’s crude oil belongs to the people, not to a cabal of untouchables,” the statement said.

The group also alleged that those behind the vessel engaged in identity theft by using the company’s documentation.

ISEN further claimed that the tanker may have connections to the pipeline surveillance contract introduced by the Federal Government to curb oil theft.

The security experts warned that failing to take decisive action could embolden further large-scale oil theft, worsen Nigeria’s revenue challenges, and weaken public confidence in institutions responsible for protecting the country’s key economic resources.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.

The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.

Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.

He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.
