“I’ll Go To Court” – Peter Obi Threatens Legal Action Over Electoral Act 2026.

Former presidential candidate and former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, has announced plans to challenge the newly enacted Electoral Act 2026 in court, raising concerns that certain provisions could influence the conduct of the 2027 general elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Obi made the remark in Awka during the launch of the membership mobilisation, registration, and revalidation exercise of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Anambra State.

The former presidential candidate said he believes parts of the legislation may affect the electoral process and therefore require judicial clarification. According to him, legal steps will be taken to seek interpretation of the contested provisions before the next general elections.

Obi also urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to maintain neutrality in electoral matters and avoid interference in the internal affairs of political parties.

“A referee does not determine the rules, choices or line-up of players in teams or clubs,” he said.

He stressed that the commission should focus solely on its constitutional duty of conducting free, fair, and credible elections.

During the event, Obi encouraged supporters and members of the ADC across Anambra State to register in their respective wards and mobilise more people to join the party.

The chairman of the occasion, Ndii Obi, stated that the ADC would offer members an open platform to participate actively in party activities. He urged supporters to unite in strengthening the party ahead of future elections.

Chairman of the ADC Registration Committee in Anambra State, Ben Nwosu, described the exercise as part of efforts to expand the party’s grassroots presence, adding that the first batch of membership cards would be distributed across the state’s 21 local government areas.

Also speaking, the party’s National Organising Secretary, Chinedu Idigo, explained that the registration exercise would be carried out both online and manually. He advised intending members to complete the online process before collecting their membership cards at designated centres.

Idigo further revealed that the party plans to adopt a direct primary system for selecting its candidates.

In his remarks, the ADC candidate in the November 8, 2025 Anambra governorship election, John Nwosu, described the gathering as a major step toward strengthening the party’s political structure.

Similarly, the Senator representing Anambra Central, Victor Umeh, said the meeting was significant and reaffirmed his support for Obi’s political ambitions.

FCT Teachers Begin Indefinite Strike Over Demands.

Published

The State Wing Executive Council of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has ordered all public primary and secondary school teachers in Abuja to commence an indefinite strike from Monday.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The union also directed parents and guardians to keep their children at home until further notice, citing unresolved welfare concerns and what it described as government inaction.

This followed a communiqué issued after an emergency SWEC meeting held in Gwagwalada, Abuja, over the weekend and signed by the state leadership of the union.

Teachers were instructed to fully comply with the strike directive and await further instructions from the union leadership, as the industrial action remains in force until their demands are addressed.

According to the communiqué, the strike became necessary after the expiration of a seven-day ultimatum earlier issued to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, which elapsed without a satisfactory response.

The union recalled that although previous interventions led to the suspension of an earlier strike, several key issues affecting teachers’ welfare were still unresolved.

It also expressed concern that a committee set up to address outstanding entitlements submitted its report in August 2025, but the findings have not been made public or implemented.

While acknowledging the payment of the new minimum wage and some salary arrears, the union insisted that major concerns remain unattended.

The NUT further demanded reforms in promotion processes and a review of the 2024 promotion exercise.

After what it described as unsuccessful engagements and expired deadlines, the union declared that all teachers in the FCT will remain on strike indefinitely until their demands are met.
