‘Abia Is APC’ – Goar, Kalu Laud Turnout In Ward Congresses.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has hit back at the African Democratic Congress (ADC), calling it “its own nemesis” following allegations linking the ruling party to a shooting incident involving opposition members in Edo State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement issued in Abuja on February 26, 2026, and signed by National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka, the APC said the ADC “needs no outside help to orchestrate its political downfall,” accusing the party of undermining itself through reckless public statements.
The APC rejected the ADC’s early claim of responsibility for the Edo incident, noting that no official investigation had been concluded by law enforcement authorities.
“Accusing the APC before any investigation is completed is particularly senseless,” the statement read, adding that the ADC had taken on the roles of “accuser, investigator, prosecutor, and judge in its own cause.”
The ruling party said this approach demonstrated a blatant disregard for due process and constitutional order.
Responding to the ADC’s characterization of the APC’s actions as “acts of terrorism,” the party described the claim as reckless and unfounded.
“It portrays the ADC and its leaders as a confused group, eager to manipulate public sentiment and gain sympathy at all costs,” the statement added.
The APC further argued that such rhetoric showed insensitivity to the sacrifices of security personnel involved in counter-terrorism operations.
While denying involvement in the incident, the party condemned all forms of political violence and called on the police and other security agencies to conduct a swift investigation.
“Violence of any kind in our political space is unacceptable and must be condemned by all well-meaning Nigerians,” the APC stated.
The party also urged investigators to consider reported internal disputes within the ADC, suggesting that factional struggles may have played a role in the crisis.
Maintaining its innocence, the APC emphasized its focus on consolidating recent electoral victories, citing wins in the Federal Capital Territory municipal elections and constituency polls in Rivers and Kano States. It thanked voters for what it described as a vote of confidence in President Bola Tinubu.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to good governance and strengthening Nigeria’s democracy.
“Our party and Mr. President remain focused on building a stronger, more resilient, and prosperous country for the benefit of all Nigerians,” the statement concluded.

WAR ON TAX: NLC And TUC Declare Total War Against Taxing Workers’ Minimum Wage!.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have announced their intention to restart negotiations with the Federal Government for a new national minimum wage, citing that current pay levels are unsustainable due to the soaring cost of living. In a joint address at the 114th International Labour Conference in Geneva, the unions emphasized that inflation, currency devaluation, and the rising costs of essentials like food, transport, housing, and healthcare have severely diminished workers’ real incomes.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The labor centers are advocating for a “genuine living wage” to replace the current framework, which they argue no longer aligns with Nigeria’s economic climate. The existing ₦70,000 minimum wage, enacted in July 2024, was originally set for a three-year review cycle, though the government shifted this to a two-year window in early 2025, scheduling the next review for 2026. To avoid past delays, the unions plan to formally initiate these discussions before the July 2026 deadline.
Key points from the unions’ position include:
-
Opposition to Wage Taxation: The NLC and TUC have firmly rejected any proposals to tax the minimum wage, warning that such measures would increase poverty and place an unbearable burden on low-income earners.
-
Demand for Relief: Until a new wage is finalized, the unions are calling for immediate relief measures from all levels of government to address the economic strain.
-
Focus on Real Income: Future negotiations must prioritize protecting real purchasing power rather than just nominal increases, as inflation continues to erode wage value.
-
Insecurity Concerns: The unions highlighted that pervasive insecurity—characterized by killings, abductions, and displacement—is severely affecting worker productivity and safety, with millions of citizens already living in multidimensional poverty.
-
Political Engagement: Looking toward the 2027 elections, the unions are drafting a “charter of demands” and stated they will only support political candidates who commit to labor rights, wage reform, and improved public services.
Furthermore, the unions denounced alleged government interference in union leadership and vowed to protect the independence of labor organizations. They maintained that the upcoming negotiations are critical to determining whether Nigerian workers will secure a livable income or continue to face worsening hardship.

BATTLE LINES DRAWN: FG Takes Decisive Action To Outlaw Open Grazing Nationwide!.
The Federal Government is set to transition away from open grazing in Nigeria to modernize and boost the livestock industry. Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Maiha, announced that the government plans to rehabilitate 470 existing gazetted grazing reserves to house pastoralists. This move aims to curb the presence of cattle on urban roads and major cities like Abuja and Lagos.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
By settling herders in designated reserves, the government intends to facilitate better monitoring of animal health, enhance livestock breeding, and strengthen disease control. The Minister emphasized that encouraging a settled lifestyle for pastoralists will allow for more effective implementation of government support programs aimed at increasing production.
To bolster these efforts, the government plans to implement an electronic tagging system to track cattle. This technology will allow authorities and owners to quickly identify animals that stray outside authorized areas, thereby mitigating theft and loss.
Minister Maiha highlighted the unsustainability of open grazing, noting that the traditional practice of long-distance cattle movement hampers productivity and prevents Nigeria from meeting its dairy requirements. Currently, Nigerian cattle yield significantly less milk—averaging only 1.2 to 2 liters daily—compared to much higher outputs in other African nations.
The Minister identified poor livestock genetics, inadequate feeding, and weak disease management as the primary drivers of this low output. Despite having an estimated 270 million ruminants, including cattle, goats, sheep, and camels, Nigeria has yet to see significant progress in large-scale breeding. Unlike countries that have successfully improved their livestock through intentional breeding programs, Nigeria continues to rely on traditional, lower-producing breeds.

“OYO IS NOT CHIBOK!” GOVERNOR MAKINDE DECLARES WAR ON KIDNAPPERS!.
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has pledged that the state will not face a crisis comparable to the 2014 Chibok schoolgirls’ abduction. Addressing protesters led by activist Martins Vincent Otse (VeryDarkMan) at his residence on Tuesday, the Governor emphasized his administration’s commitment to securing the release of 46 students and teachers kidnapped in Orire Local Government Area on May 15.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
While acknowledging the loss of security personnel during ongoing rescue operations, Governor Makinde stated his willingness to make personal sacrifices, including risking his own life, to ensure the victims’ safe return. He noted that the government is proceeding with extreme caution to prevent further loss of life, following the death of one teacher. Regarding the limitations of his office, the Governor addressed the challenge of constitutional constraints on state control over security agencies, while affirming his support for the public’s right to peaceful protest and accountability.
Option 2: Concise and Direct
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has promised a swift resolution to the kidnapping of 46 students and teachers in Orire, vowing that the state will never become another “Chibok.” During a meeting with activist VeryDarkMan and demonstrators, Makinde declared that his administration is exhausting all options to rescue the victims safely.
Addressing the crowd, the Governor revealed that security forces have already suffered casualties, including the recent death of an army lieutenant. Expressing deep personal commitment to the cause, Makinde stated, “I am prepared to sacrifice myself for those children to come out.” While defending his administration’s efforts, he also acknowledged the constitutional limits of state authority over security forces but fully supported the protesters’ right to demand government accountability.
Option 3: Narrative/Impact-Focused
Amid mounting pressure to rescue 46 abducted pupils and teachers, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde delivered an impassioned message to protesters at his Ibadan home on Tuesday. Reassuring the public, he firmly declared that Oyo would not experience a tragedy similar to the Chibok abductions.
The Governor spoke candidly about the high stakes of the ongoing rescue mission, mourning the loss of military personnel and a teacher already killed in the conflict. In an emotional vow to the families of the victims, Makinde offered to put his own life on the line to ensure the safe return of the captives. While noting that state governors face constitutional hurdles in commanding security agencies, he took full responsibility for the situation and praised the protesters for exercising their civic right to hold leadership accountable.
