He explained that the exercise was aimed at testing the effectiveness of the new BVAS update.

“Before the FCT elections, we carried out a mock trial of the updated BVAS in 289 polling units across the FCT,” Ifogah said, noting that the upgrade is intended to enhance the credibility of result management at the polling unit level.

Detailing how the system now works, he said presiding officers must input collated results directly into BVAS at the polling units.

“After results are tallied at polling units, the presiding officer enters the data into the BVAS,” he stated.

Ifogah added that the system now includes a built-in validation feature that cross-checks uploaded results against previously recorded data.

“If the scanned EC8A form, which contains the tabulated results, does not match the accredited voter numbers and figures already stored in BVAS, the system will block the submission until accuracy is confirmed,” he explained.

He further noted that the upgrade goes beyond simply capturing and transmitting images of result sheets.

“This new BVAS feature validates scanned information against pre-recorded data, rather than merely transmitting photos,” he said.

Describing politics as a reciprocal process, Wike stressed that the era of empty promises was over:

“Leaders must demonstrate their commitment to delivering good governance. You cannot make promises during elections and vanish afterward without fulfilling them. We asked you to support Tinubu, starting with the area council elections. On February 21, you came through, delivering 133 of the 135 polling units in the council for Tinubu. What more can we say but thank you? You have done your part; we will now do ours. Abaji people have spoken, and they spoke decisively,” he said.
