Police Investigate Socialite Over Alleged $2.5M Scam Targeting Dubai Crown Prince.

The Centre’s Commissioner of Police, Uche Ifeanyi, confirmed the development in an interview with Saturday PUNCH on Friday.

Ifeanyi explained that the investigation intensified following widespread media reports. A viral documentary released on Wednesday by the Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) claimed that Ikeji orchestrated a romance and humanitarian investment scam under the guise of the Dubai Crown Prince.

According to the documentary, the scheme began about three years ago when the victim, identified only as Laura, was contacted on LinkedIn by an account purporting to belong to the Dubai Crown Prince.

Internal conflicts within the alleged syndicate reportedly exposed the scam. The documentary stated that a disgruntled accomplice informed the victim of Ikeji’s true identity and shared a video allegedly showing him at a newly acquired mansion.

Investigators also reportedly traveled to Abuja to liaise with journalist Chikezie Omeje in order to track the suspect. Using Ikeji’s Instagram account and that of his wife, the team reportedly located him.

At a press briefing on Thursday, Ifeanyi said the police were analysing the documentary while awaiting official communication from either the victim or its producers. In a follow-up interview with Saturday PUNCH, he confirmed that profiling was ongoing.

“We’re still doing the profiling. The only information available to us so far is what we obtained from social media because there has been no direct complaint from the woman involved or from the documentary producers. We are trying to get our facts right,” he said.

When asked if profiling had started, he replied, “Yes, we are doing that already.” He added that once sufficient evidence is gathered, the police would take appropriate action, including a potential arrest.
