“Together, we are proving that when leaders work in harmony, development accelerates and public trust in institutions grows,” the Governor said during a special constituency empowerment program organized by Speaker Abbas at Nuhu Babajo Stadium, Zaria, on Sunday.

As part of the program, Speaker Abbas distributed 850 motorcycles and 30 vehicles, and commissioned sports centres across Zaria Federal Constituency. Beneficiaries included teachers, religious leaders, polling unit heads, community support groups, and security personnel, including members of the Old CPC Support Group aligned with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani.

Governor Uba Sani highlighted that the initiative “reflects the Speaker’s belief that public office should translate into tangible improvements in the lives of the people, delivering dignity, opportunity, and hope.” He added that the program emphasizes productivity, inclusion, and human well-being, and is a reminder of what purposeful leadership can achieve.

Speaker Abbas noted that the empowerment program began with economic initiatives, including training and grants for women and youth, and continued with investments in mobility, organizational capacity, and community infrastructure.

He explained, “Distributing motorcycles to teachers, Imams, polling unit heads, support groups, and security personnel enhances mobility, efficiency, and service delivery. Teachers can reach classrooms consistently, religious leaders can engage communities more effectively, and grassroots organizers can operate across wards with greater impact. Security personnel can respond faster, strengthening safety in our communities.”

The Speaker also presented 30 vehicles to the Old CPC Support Group to recognize loyalty, discipline, and their contribution to building political structures that underpinned the APC’s success nationally. He emphasized that strong structures are essential for political stability, mobilization, and effective governance.

On the commissioning of sports centres, Abbas said, “Sports foster discipline, teamwork, and confidence, playing a crucial role in community development.”

Earlier, Governor Uba Sani had inaugurated a 100-kilowatt solar mini-grid in Damau, Kubau LGA, highlighting that the community had lacked electricity for over a decade. He said, “Markets closed early, small businesses struggled, healthcare delivery was constrained, and children relied on candlelight to study. Such conditions hinder productivity and social progress.”

The Governor noted that the mini-grid project was a partnership between the Rural Electrification Agency of Nigeria, the National Assembly, and the Kaduna State Government, and praised Speaker Abbas, Hon. Aliyu Mustapha Abdullahi (Kubau/Ikara Federal Constituency), and REA MD Abba Aliyu for their roles in making the project a reality.

He concluded by emphasizing that the initiative “demonstrates what is possible when the Executive and Legislature collaborate with a shared sense of responsibility to serve the people.”
