According to reports, six armed men stormed his residence on Gbadamosi Close around 11 p.m., apparently intending to assassinate him. Fortunately, Tafa Sego was not at home during the invasion, as he had left earlier in the evening to attend an event with visiting associates.

The attackers, upon realizing he wasn’t present, overpowered and tied up his security guard before ransacking the house in search of him. Although the property was thoroughly searched, the assailants left without accomplishing their deadly mission. The security guard, who sustained minor injuries, later filed a report at the police station.

Prince Idowu Onikoyi, a stakeholder in the NURTW, confirmed the incident during a phone conversation with SaharaReporters. He assured the public that Tafa Sego is safe and in good health, and that the police have launched an investigation.

The incident has sparked fear among Surulere residents, many of whom now worry about the possibility of a follow-up attack. Law enforcement officials from the Area C Command have since visited the scene, documented the damages, and questioned the security personnel for details that may lead to the suspects’ arrest.

A close associate of the union leader hinted that the attack may be connected to recent reforms initiated by Tafa Sego to enhance the welfare of NURTW members. “The Chairman is understandably shaken but remains resolute. He’s committed to driving positive change and will fully support security agencies to ensure those responsible are brought to justice,” the associate said.
