Labour Party Vice Chairman Abayomi Arabambi Calls Federal High Court Ruling Against Abure “A Farce”.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The National Vice Chairman (South West) of the Labour Party (LP), Abayomi Arabambi, has condemned the Federal High Court’s decision removing Julius Abure as the party’s National Chairman, describing the judgment as misleading and a misrepresentation of the Supreme Court’s April 4 ruling.

Speaking on ARISE News, Arabambi argued that no lower court has the authority to reinterpret, alter, or expand a Supreme Court judgment, stressing that the apex court never declared Abure’s tenure expired.

He said, “Justice Peter Lifu referred to a statement from the Supreme Court judgment of April 4, claiming it affirmed Senator Nenadi Usman as leader of the Labour Party. That is a farce. It is not true. Section 235 of the 1999 Constitution is very clear: no court can review or reinterpret a Supreme Court judgment except the Supreme Court itself.”

Arabambi emphasized, “I am saying this clearly on international television: the Supreme Court never said Julius Abure was not validly elected. The Supreme Court never said his tenure expired. What Justice Lifu relied on was an advisory note, not the operative judgment. Treating it as binding is not the law.”

He also highlighted procedural irregularities, noting that the party has filed both an appeal and a motion for stay of execution.

“Our preliminary objection challenging jurisdiction was ignored. INEC’s position was not fully considered. We have not received a Certified True Copy of the judgment, yet we were expected to appeal. We acted promptly, filing an appeal and a motion for stay of execution. The Labour Party will not be strangulated,” he said.

Arabambi further clarified Abure’s leadership timeline, insisting his tenure remains valid.

“Julius Abure became National Secretary in 2019 and National Chairman in 2021. His tenure was due to expire in 2023, but ongoing litigation allowed the National Executive Council to extend it by one year, which is within NEC’s powers. A valid national convention was held in 2024 in line with Section 82 of the Electoral Act, and INEC was duly notified. His tenure effectively commenced again in 2024. The Supreme Court did not say otherwise,” Arabambi concluded.

Subsidy: ‘Demonstration Of Serious Ignorance In Governance, Economy’ – Tinubu Blasts Atiku

Published

President Bola Tinubu has firmly criticized former vice-presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, dismissing his recent proposal to reinstate the petrol subsidy regime as a fundamental lack of understanding of economic management and governance.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Upon taking office, the current administration discontinued the fuel subsidy and floated the national currency to address structural economic imbalances. While these sweeping policy changes triggered widespread financial pressures and heightened the cost of living for average citizens, the government maintains that the reforms were essential for long-term fiscal stability.

Addressing critics from the Presidential Villa, President Tinubu defended the decision by highlighting its immediate impact on sub-national finances. He pointed out that prior to the intervention, numerous state governments struggled to meet monthly obligations to workers and retirees. According to the administration, the savings generated from ending the subsidy have since enabled states to consistently service salary arrears and pension commitments, framing the policy shift as a vital corrective measure for the nation’s broader financial framework.
