Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has officially rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC), putting an end to months of speculation over his political future.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The defection was formalized on Monday at Coronation Hall in the Kano Government House, where Yusuf was warmly received by top APC figures, including former governor and ex-APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, and Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Ata.

Senior APC officials, federal lawmakers, and political stakeholders from across the state were also present to witness the event.

Speaking at the occasion, Governor Yusuf explained that his return to the ruling party was motivated by a desire to collaborate more closely with the Federal Government and align Kano State’s development priorities with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Yusuf’s move follows a wave of departures from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), under which he was elected governor in 2023. In recent weeks, 22 members of the Kano State House of Assembly and eight federal lawmakers have left the NNPP in solidarity with the governor.

Meanwhile, Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, son of former Kano Governor and NNPP national leader Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has resigned as Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development. His resignation from the Kano State Executive Council under Governor Yusuf was officially announced in a statement on Monday.

In the statement, Mustapha said:
*”It is with a heavy heart that I announce my resignation as Honorable Commissioner, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, and Member of the Kano State Executive Council. I am deeply grateful to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for the opportunity to serve the great people of Kano State. I have cherished the experiences and lessons gained while serving and appreciate the trust placed in me.

As I step down, I pray that the youth of Kano State continue to receive the attention and support they deserve. I hope our sports development programs and initiatives will flourish in the years ahead.”*
