Anambra APC Deputy Governorship Candidate Blames National Leadership For Ukachukwu’s Defeat.

Anambra APC Deputy Governorship Candidate, Senator Uche Ekwunife, has faulted the party’s national leadership for not providing enough support to its governorship aspirant, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, in the November 8, 2025 election.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking on Saturday during a stakeholders meeting in Awka to review the ongoing e‑registration exercise, Ekwunife praised the unprecedented commitment of APC members in Anambra but lamented that the national leadership failed to match that energy with strategic backing.

“The dedication we saw from APC members in Anambra during the last election was historic,” she said, adding that even a modest 20% support from the national level could have tipped the scales in their favor.

“If the national party had given us just 20 percent push, we would have gone far. We failed everybody—our party and our people,” Ekwunife stated.

Acknowledging that God ultimately determines outcomes, she emphasized that unity and effort are crucial. “God gives power to whom He wills… He can give it to us if we work for it,” she said, citing the biblical principle to “give Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to Him.”

Ekwunife said the enthusiasm and unity of APC members in Anambra clearly indicated that the party was close to victory, if adequately supported. “For the first time, APC members in Anambra were eager to win… all they needed was backing,” she added.

On the ongoing e‑registration drive, she urged members to participate fully, noting that it is more than just a headcount but a critical database that will help the party recognize and empower members.

“Some see this as mere registration, but it is a key tool to empower members,” she said, affirming the party’s support for President Bola Tinubu as its 2027 presidential candidate. “We have agreed that he will fly the party’s ticket and we will support him.”

Ekwunife also spoke positively about her time in the Senate with Senator Oluremi Tinubu, expressing confidence in the leadership of both the President and his wife. “With them, Nigeria is in good hands,” she said.

Earlier, APC State Chairman Basil Ejidike expressed concern over low participation in the e‑registration process, noting that Anambra and Abuja were the weakest performers.

Joe Okekeuche, State e‑Registration Coordinator, said only 17,488 people had registered so far, highlighting Njikoka, Awka South, and Onitsha South as top performers, while Ihiala, Idemili South, and Anambra West were the lowest. Leaders of the top-performing LGAs were rewarded for their efforts.

He further stated that incentive packages would be awarded to teams that perform exceptionally, particularly in handling exam materials and submitting timely reports.

Reiterating JAMB’s zero-tolerance stance on malpractice, he warned candidates against bringing prohibited items into examination halls.
