What Govt Has Seen Is Not Up To One Quarter – Maina Accuses Malami Of Massive Theft.
Former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina, has accused former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, of large-scale theft.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a video obtained by Sahara Reporters, Maina called for an investigation into Malami’s activities, alleging massive misappropriation of public funds and questionable asset recoveries connected to past administrations.
“My specialty is recovering public funds. Malami allegedly stole a lot of money, and what the government has seen so far is not even a quarter of it,” Maina said.
He also questioned the scale of recoverable assets linked to Malami, noting that the properties currently under investigation represent only a fraction of the alleged funds. “We can recover these funds from Malami; they exceed what has already been reported. What are ₦217 billion in properties?” he asked.
Maina expressed support for the government’s accountability efforts, stating:
“The government is doing the right thing. Accountability, transparency, and the rule of law must prevail, and that is what I see happening now.”
He contrasted the current administration’s actions with alleged corruption under previous governments, emphasizing that these activities occurred in the past.
“All these things happened under the last administration. I don’t believe this could happen under the current government,” he said.
Maina also recounted his alleged summons from abroad, referencing former presidents and senior officials.
“How could someone summon me in Abu Dhabi? Former President Muhammadu Buhari was there. They begged me, but I refused to return to Nigeria,” he said.
He added that pressure was later applied through his family.
“They eventually involved my mother, insisting I return, because Jonathan’s team knew I recovered ₦1.6 trillion during his administration. This can be confirmed by Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.”
Maina further alleged that some asset recoveries under the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) involved former chairman Ibrahim Magu and Malami.
“There were 227 properties under Magu. Allegedly, these were shared between Magu, his associates, and Malami. This partly caused the fallout between Malami and Magu,” he added.
