2027: APC Warns Anti-Tinubu Coalition Will Repeat Past Mistakes.

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed ongoing efforts by opposition parties to form a coalition against President Bola Tinubu’s re-election, warning that the alliance is likely to collapse under internal contradictions and personal ambitions.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement on Thursday, Lagos APC Spokesman Seye Oladejo dismissed the opposition coalition as lacking cohesion, ideological clarity, and mutual trust, describing it as “an unstable arrangement driven largely by power struggles among serial presidential aspirants.”

Oladejo said the coalition is essentially a gathering of politicians more interested in personal ambition than in collective purpose.

“What is being marketed as a coalition is, in reality, a congregation of serial presidential aspirants, each unwilling to subordinate ego to collective purpose,” he said.

He added that the alliance had no shared ideology or national vision beyond the pursuit of power.

“From the outset, this assemblage has lacked ideological glue, moral cohesion, or a shared vision for Nigeria beyond a desperate fixation on power,” Oladejo noted.

The APC spokesman also criticized public ultimatums and preconditions issued by opposition leaders, arguing that such actions exposed deep divisions within the group.

“Recent public posturing has further exposed the fault lines. Pre-conditions, ultimatums, and thinly veiled threats have replaced dialogue and consensus,” he said.

Oladejo warned that demands for guaranteed presidential or vice-presidential tickets before alignment reveal the coalition is transactional rather than strategic.

“When leading figures openly demand guaranteed presidential or vice-presidential tickets before ‘alignment,’ it becomes clear that this is not a partnership but a transactional bargain destined to collapse at first contact with reality,” he added.

A House Divided Against Itself

Highlighting internal tensions, Oladejo pointed to appeals from opposition leaders asking supporters to stop attacking each other as a sign of worsening hostility within the coalition.

“This is a classic case of a house divided against itself, where internal hostility has become so intense that public pleas for restraint are issued even before any meaningful structure is formed,” he said.

He added, “A coalition that must beg its own followers for peace has already conceded defeat to its internal chaos.”

Nigeria Has Seen This Movie Before

Oladejo further warned that multiple power centers within the coalition would weaken decision-making and eventually lead to its collapse.

“The presence of multiple power centres within the same tent, each convinced of its own inevitability, renders the project unsustainable,” he said.

“History is unkind to coalitions built on convenience rather than conviction, on arithmetic rather than ideology. Nigeria has seen this movie before, and the ending is always the same: fragmentation, recrimination, and implosion.”

While dismissing the opposition’s efforts, Oladejo emphasized that the APC remains focused on governance and consolidating the gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda under President Tinubu.

“The APC remains a tested platform with a proven capacity to manage diversity, resolve internal differences through established democratic processes, and present a coherent governance agenda,” he said.

He stressed that elections are won through performance, structure, and national vision—not fragile alliances.

“As the countdown to 2027 continues, the question before the opposition is no longer whether to form a coalition, but whether such a coalition can survive its own contradictions,” Oladejo said.

“The signs are unmistakable: what looms is not a formidable alternative, but an impending implosion.”

Oloyede said many of the issues recorded during the mock exercise were due to poor assessment of centres by some technical officials.

He further stated that incentive packages would be awarded to teams that perform exceptionally, particularly in handling exam materials and submitting timely reports.
