Addressing an expanded State Security Council meeting on Monday at the Government House in Bauchi, the governor stressed that security is fundamental to governance and called for a preventive approach.

“Without security, there is no governance. Security agencies must collaborate closely with traditional rulers and local authorities to ensure effective intelligence gathering and crime prevention,” he said.

While commending security agencies for maintaining relative peace, Mohammed warned that the state must stay vigilant against banditry, kidnapping, cross-border crimes, and misinformation. He also cautioned traditional leaders against abusing their authority through illegal land allocations or harbouring criminals, noting that silence in the face of crime amounts to complicity.

The governor emphasized the importance of intelligence sharing, community engagement, and inter-agency cooperation to sustain peace and stability.

According to him, the effort is already helping to reduce dependence on firewood while creating alternative sources of income for beneficiaries.

He also approved an amendment extending the lifespan of the 2025 budget from March 31 to June 30, 2026, to ensure completion of ongoing capital projects nationwide.

Under the 2026 fiscal plan, ₦4.799 trillion is set aside for statutory transfers, ₦15.8 trillion for debt servicing, ₦15.4 trillion for recurrent spending, while ₦32.2 trillion goes to capital projects—about half of the total budget.

The focus, according to the administration, is on infrastructure development, security, and growth-driven investments aimed at improving living standards.
