Road To WAFCON Glory Begins As Super Falcons Await Group Opponents.
According to Nivo News, defending champions Nigeria’s Super Falcons will discover their group-stage opponents for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations on Thursday when the official draw is conducted.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The draw ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat, as the Confederation of African Football prepares for an expanded edition of the tournament, which will feature 16 teams for the first time.
Nigeria is expected to headline a competitive line-up that includes tournament hosts Morocco, alongside Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon and Cape Verde. Other countries set to contest for continental glory include Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia.
All 16 qualified teams will be seeded into four pots for the draw, with placements determined by the FIFA Women’s World Ranking released on December 11, 2025.
CAF is also expected to use the draw ceremony to unveil winners of the CAF Women’s Coach of the Year award and other key honours celebrating excellence in women’s football across the continent.
The 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations is scheduled to run from March 17 to April 3, 2026.
