According to Nivo News, NNPP National Publicity Secretary Ladipo Johnson described the claims as a “blatant falsehood” and a deliberate attempt to misrepresent Kwankwaso’s position. He stressed that the former Kano State governor has not and will not change his stance regarding Governor Yusuf or the party.

The disputed report, circulated on Tuesday night, suggested that Kwankwaso had expressed support for the defection in a short video shared on Facebook by his media assistant, Saifullahi Hassan. The report also claimed that some NNPP officeholders in the state were being encouraged to join the APC.

Johnson, however, condemned the dissemination of the report, accusing those behind it of twisting Kwankwaso’s words to mislead the public. “Intentionally twisting his words to trick people into thinking he supports their upcoming action is as childish and pitiful as it gets,” he said, urging any members considering leaving the party to do so openly without falsely claiming Kwankwaso’s approval.

He further clarified that the former governor is committed to reducing political tension in Kano State and has called out certain members for betraying the trust placed in them by the people. Johnson warned that those who violate public trust would face the judgment of the electorate after the 2027 elections.
