‘Nothing to Fear’ — NFF Boss Talks Tough Ahead Of Nigeria Vs Morocco Showdown.
The President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Ibrahim Gusau, has dismissed concerns over possible biased officiating ahead of Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations semi-final clash against host nation Morocco in Rabat.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to Nivo News, Gusau played down fears expressed by some Nigerian supporters, insisting that there was no basis to believe match officials would favour the host team when the Super Eagles confront the Atlas Lions in the final-four encounter.
He expressed confidence in the integrity of African football’s top competition, noting that officiating standards at that level leave little room for unfair conduct. Gusau recalled Nigeria’s experience at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations held in Morocco, where the Super Falcons defeated the host nation in the final despite playing away from home, describing it as proof that there was nothing to fear.
The NFF president stressed that officials are fully aware of the scrutiny from the Confederation of African Football and the wider football community, adding that no referee would risk compromising the credibility of the tournament.
Gusau’s comments came amid speculation that Morocco, who are seeking a second AFCON title half a century after their first triumph, could enjoy favourable decisions as tournament hosts.
Despite the external noise, confidence remains high within the Super Eagles camp. The team has maintained a calm and focused atmosphere at their Rabat base, combining disciplined training sessions at the Complexe Sportif Mohamed VI with a relaxed routine at Hotel Rihab as preparations intensify for the decisive encounter.
Meanwhile, sources within the Moroccan camp are said to be wary of the influence of Nigerian midfielder Alex Iwobi, whose performances have been among the standout displays of the tournament. Iwobi recorded 22 line-breaking passes in Nigeria’s emphatic 4-0 quarter-final victory over Mozambique and followed it up with another commanding showing against Algeria in Marrakech, contributing 14 similar passes.
Nigeria scored six goals across both matches without conceding, underlining their defensive solidity and attacking efficiency. The 29-year-old midfielder has also made his presence felt creatively, providing the assists for Nigeria’s first two goals in their 2-1 group-stage win over Tanzania in Fés.
Since making his international debut against the Democratic Republic of Congo in October 2015, Iwobi has developed into one of Nigeria’s most dependable midfielders. The semi-final clash will mark his 96th appearance for the Super Eagles as Nigeria chase a place in the AFCON final.

‘No Fear Of Death!’ — Defiant Miners Storm Back To Notorious Niger Mining Site Despite 37 Fatalities
Just days after 37 suspected illegal miners tragically died from a suspected disease outbreak while in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), miners have returned to the M.I. Wushishi mining site in Minna, Niger State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The original arrests occurred during NSCDC operations on September 15 and 16 near the Lt Gen Mohammed Inuwa Wushishi Estate, which resulted in the suspension of Niger State NSCDC commandant, Suberu Aniviye, following the deaths. Despite the tragedy and the initial scare, a visit to the site on Saturday showed no security presence, with men, women, and underage workers returning to dig earth, fill sacks, and wash materials using a nearby stream.
Miners explained that economic necessity drove them back to the site. Salisu DanMallam, a 15-year veteran miner, noted that he stayed away on Tuesday and Wednesday due to the raids, but had to return because mining is his sole livelihood and missing work severely impacts his finances. While acknowledging the tragedy, DanMallam stated he had no direct blood ties to those who died and remained uncertain of the exact casualty figures.
Another miner, 26-year-old Buhari Rabiu, recounted fleeing the site after receiving a warning about approaching NSCDC officers. Rabiu made serious allegations against the security agency, claiming he was previously assaulted, injured, hospitalized for treatment, and forced to pay bail during a prior arrest, alongside other grievances involving clashes with operatives.

‘Absolute Rubbish!’ — Presidency Unleashes Fury Over Rumors Of Tinubu Facing US Arrest At UNGA
The presidency has strongly rejected claims suggesting that the United States could arrest President Bola Tinubu, dismissing the reports as politically motivated nonsense.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The controversy arose following the presidency’s confirmation that President Tinubu would not attend the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. Addressing the public outcry on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Ademola Oshodi, the Senior Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs and Protocol to the President, clarified that there are no legal or diplomatic impediments preventing the President from traveling to the U.S.
Oshodi emphasized that the claims are a product of political posturing during an election season. To support his argument, he pointed out that the United States has historically permitted controversial foreign leaders—such as Muammar Gaddafi, Fidel Castro, and Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini—to access the United Nations. He also noted that President Tinubu has previously traveled to the U.S. without incident, dismissing the rumors entirely as “pure politics.”

In a statement released on Sunday, NSCDC spokesperson Assistant Commandant Babawale Afolabi announced that all involved personnel from the Niger State command were transferred to the national headquarters in Abuja on September 17, 2026, for rigorous interrogation and disciplinary action. The suspended officers will also be made available to the Presidential Independent Investigation Committee (PIIC) and other investigative panels for potential prosecution.
Additionally, the corps ordered its flags to be flown at half-mast across all formations for three days starting Sunday to honor the deceased.
This development follows the Federal Government’s establishment of a 10-member independent investigative committee.
