CDS Reaffirms Nigerian Armed Forces’ Commitment To Democracy, Peace, And Security.
According to Nivo News, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Olufemi Oluyede, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Armed Forces’ unwavering commitment to defending democratic values and ensuring peace and security across the country. General Oluyede assured President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Nigerians that the Military High Command would continue to cultivate a highly professional Armed Forces guided by a collective mindset focused on fulfilling constitutional responsibilities. He emphasized that, in collaboration with other security institutions and civil authorities, and drawing from the lessons of veterans, the Armed Forces will confront challenges to achieve lasting peace and security.
The Defence Chief paid tribute to fallen heroes, highlighting their sacrifices in safeguarding Nigeria’s unity and sovereignty. He described Remembrance Day as a poignant reminder of the heavy price paid for the peace and liberty enjoyed today, adding that the bravery and dedication of these soldiers remain an enduring legacy for future generations. He also acknowledged the resilience and strength of the families of fallen personnel, affirming that their contributions and legacies will always be honoured.
General Oluyede commended active military personnel across various theatres of operation for their professionalism, loyalty, and commitment to duty. He stated that their service demonstrates an unwavering dedication to national security, discipline, and selfless service.
He further warned that the Armed Forces would not compromise on national security and would continue to neutralize all threats, both domestic and trans-border. The CDS assured troops that their welfare remains a top priority and reiterated the importance of fostering a unified, professional military ready to meet constitutional obligations.
The Defence Chief also expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his steadfast leadership and support for the Armed Forces, reaffirming the military’s enduring commitment to defending democracy and ensuring peace in Nigeria.
