Wike Boasts He Led The War That Delivered Tinubu In Rivers State.
According to Nivo News, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that he was instrumental in securing President Bola Tinubu’s victory in Rivers State during the 2023 presidential election.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Wike made the statement while addressing supporters in Port Harcourt Local Government Area, targeting former backers of Atiku Abubakar who have now shifted allegiance to Tinubu. He criticised these individuals for failing to deliver even 10 percent of their votes to Atiku in 2023, yet now claiming they can lead Tinubu’s campaign in the state. Wike insisted that no one would displace him from directing Tinubu’s political efforts in Rivers.
“In 2023, we led the war to deliver President Tinubu in Rivers State. Those who supported Atiku and couldn’t give him 10% are now claiming they can lead Tinubu’s campaign. Is that possible? Nobody here can push us out. We led the war, and that’s the reality,” Wike said.
Speaking further on leadership, Wike stressed the temporary nature of power, reminding political actors that no individual remains in charge indefinitely. “We should know that today I am a leader; tomorrow it will be your turn. No one man can be a leader forever. God has never allowed that,” he said.
He elaborated on succession, encouraging leaders to accept that others will eventually take over. “Man comes, man goes. Everyone has their turn. When your time comes, serve to satisfy the people and according to the will of God,” Wike stated. He highlighted that understanding leadership’s impermanence fosters mutual respect and tolerance among political actors.
Wike also praised Rivers State for its ability to unite leaders from different political parties, a strategy he said helped Tinubu’s emergence. His remarks come amid heightened political tension, as the Rivers State House of Assembly continues impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara over alleged financial mismanagement and failure to present the 2026 budget. Wike, who enjoys significant loyalty in the Assembly, has criticised Fubara for allegedly reneging on a prior peace agreement.

Atiku Opens Up On ADC 2027 Game Plan, Says Consensus Candidate Comes First.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will first pursue a consensus arrangement before considering a primary election for its 2027 presidential ticket.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Atiku made this known during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday while discussing the party’s leadership and strategy ahead of the next general election.
He said he is open to backing a consensus candidate if that becomes the party’s collective decision, stressing that such support should not be interpreted as stepping aside.
“It is not about stepping aside, but whether I am willing to support, and yes, I will,” Atiku said.
According to him, the ADC’s first priority is to build internal unity and reach an agreement among stakeholders before considering a competitive primary process.
“Our first option will be to work out a consensus. If that doesn’t happen, then of course we will explore other options. And yes, I will support whoever eventually emerges,” he stated.
Atiku also expressed confidence in the political experience within the party, saying he believes a consensus is achievable and may make a full-scale primary contest unnecessary.
“That remains our preferred path. We will go for primaries if consensus fails, but I honestly do not expect it to get to that stage because we are dealing with mature and experienced politicians,” he added.
His comments come amid growing political consultations and coalition talks as parties begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
