Ex-Abia Governors Set To Drag Otti To Court Over Use Of Private Residence.
According to Nivo News, a coalition of former governors, lawmakers, and political appointees who served in Abia State between 1999 and 2023 has announced plans to initiate legal action against Governor Alex Otti over his continued operation from a private residence in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The decision was reached during the group’s second strategic meeting held at the residence of former governor Theodore Orji. In a communiqué released after the meeting, the political bloc resolved that a lawsuit should be filed to compel Governor Otti to relocate official government activities to the Government House in Umuahia.
The communiqué, read by a former media aide to the Abia State government, Victor Ike Oye, expressed concern that the governor has persisted in conducting state affairs from his personal residence rather than the official seat of power. The group described the situation as inappropriate and inconsistent with established governance norms.
Among the prominent members of the bloc are former governors Orji Uzor Kalu, Theodore Orji, and Okezie Ikpeazu, alongside several past legislators and political office holders. The group also declared its readiness to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 and expressed appreciation to the President for appointing one of its members, Okezie Ikpeazu, as an ambassador.
Meanwhile, Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has vowed that the All Progressives Congress will unseat Governor Otti in the 2027 general election. Speaking at a political gathering with supporters, Kalu described Otti as a one-term governor, insisting that he lacks the political depth required to retain power.
The former Abia State governor declared that the APC is fully prepared to reclaim the state, adding that he would personally embark on door-to-door campaigns across Abia to ensure Otti’s defeat. He dismissed the governor as inexperienced in politics, arguing that his background as a banker has not translated into effective political leadership.
Kalu further stated that any suggestion that Otti would secure a second term was unrealistic, maintaining that the political tide in Abia State would shift decisively in 2027.
