Tinubu noted that his message was informed by personal experience, having also suffered the loss of a loved one in the past.
He conveyed his sympathy to the entire family, offering prayers for strength, comfort, and divine support as they navigate the painful period of mourning. The President described Adichie as a global literary icon whose works have brought inspiration, joy, and enlightenment to people around the world, adding that the nation shares in her grief.
Tinubu stated that he mourns alongside the family and prayed that they would find solace and fortitude in God during what he described as an extremely difficult time.
According to available information, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and her husband lost one of their twin sons, Nkanu Nnamdi, after a brief illness. The child, aged 21 months, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, leaving family members, admirers, and well-wishers in mourning.
