Adamu reacted to the reports on Thursday, insisting that he remains loyal to his political history and would not abandon the party he helped build. He characterised the claims as a fabrication driven by social media speculation and attention-seeking narratives.
The former APC chairman stressed that he is not an ungrateful politician, noting that he had served his party at the highest level and remains satisfied with his political journey. He dismissed suggestions that internal disagreements within the APC had prompted any move to another party, stating that he had no intention of addressing what he described as baseless rumours.
Adamu has had a long and influential political career, having previously served as a two-term governor of Nasarawa State and as a senator under the Peoples Democratic Party. He also held the position of Secretary of the PDP Board of Trustees during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
He was a key figure in the formation of the APC and later emerged as the party’s National Chairman in 2022, playing a central role in its leadership before his removal in 2023 following the general election that ushered in President Bola Tinubu’s administration. During his tenure, Adamu was a vocal supporter of former Senate President Ahmed Lawan’s presidential ambition.
He reiterated that claims of his defection were unfounded and urged the public to disregard what he described as misleading social media reports aimed at stirring unnecessary controversy.
