The cleric was summoned to appear before the State Criminal Investigation Department at Panti on Monday as part of an ongoing investigation into allegations bordering on multiple rape, other sexual offences and actions capable of breaching public peace and disrupting law and order in Lagos State.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, had directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the allegations levelled against Pastor Okafor.

Police authorities confirmed that the invitation letter was duly served on the pastor through his legal representative, with instructions to report to the Criminal Investigation Department by 10:00 a.m. on January 5, 2026. However, as of late Monday afternoon, he was yet to present himself for questioning.

A senior police source at the State Criminal Investigation Department disclosed that the pastor had not arrived at the facility as of 4:00 p.m., adding that it remained uncertain whether he would still comply with the invitation.

In an official statement, the Lagos State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to a thorough, transparent and impartial investigation. The command assured the public that all alleged victims and witnesses would be provided with full security protection, while their identities would be kept strictly confidential.

The police also urged individuals who may have been affected by the alleged actions or who possess relevant information to come forward and assist the investigation without fear. According to the command, all reports will be treated with utmost professionalism and in accordance with the law.

Authorities further stressed that the investigation would proceed without sentiment or bias, regardless of the social or religious status of any individual involved, reiterating that justice must prevail.
