‘Peter Obi’s Exit Won’t Stop Us’ — Labour Party Talks Tough Ahead Of 2027.
According to Nivo News, the Labour Party in Nasarawa State has played down concerns surrounding the exit of its 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, insisting that his departure will not slow the party’s momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The state chairman of the party, Alexander Emmanuel, made the position known during a media interaction, where he expressed confidence that the Labour Party remains strong, united and capable of mobilising massive grassroots support. He disclosed that the party is already preparing to replicate the historic one-million-man rally recorded during the 2023 campaign season.
Emmanuel emphasised that the Labour Party is a broad-based movement driven by citizens from diverse backgrounds and not built around the influence of any single individual. According to him, the party’s strength lies in its collective structure, which includes workers, students, market women, youths, retirees and other concerned Nigerians.
He stressed that the exit of Peter Obi would not derail the party’s progress, adding that the Labour Party was active and well-organised long before Obi joined its ranks. He noted that the party has consistently moved forward and remains focused on its mission of political reform and people-oriented governance.
The party chairman further expressed confidence that the Labour Party can secure electoral victories in Nasarawa State and at the national level in 2027, relying on the support of ordinary citizens rather than elite political structures.
Addressing reports of internal division, Emmanuel dismissed claims of factionalisation within the party, stating that all legal disputes have been resolved and that the Labour Party is now fully prepared for future political contests. He contrasted the party’s stability with internal challenges facing some other political platforms.
Emmanuel also criticised the performance of the All Progressives Congress-led federal government, citing widespread economic hardship across the country. He said many Nigerians are dissatisfied with the current administration, particularly farmers who, according to him, are grappling with poor pricing of agricultural produce and lack of adequate support for farming inputs.
He called on the government to urgently address the economic difficulties confronting citizens and take decisive steps to ease the burden on Nigerians.
