“You Are Handing Kano Back To Ganduje” – Kwankwaso Warns Against Defection.
According to Nivo News, the leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has criticized reports suggesting that Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf may defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), calling it a betrayal after efforts to reclaim the state from the party’s previous administration.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Kwankwaso described the potential move as a painful setback, emphasizing that the party had worked hard to rescue Kano from the governance of former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and the APC. He expressed disappointment at the possibility of handing the governorship back “free of charge” and warned of the political consequences if the defection proceeds.
Speaking on the matter, Kwankwaso urged party members to continue praying for the leadership and to discourage any ongoing contacts that might facilitate the defection. He noted that the expected decampment, originally scheduled for Monday, had reportedly been postponed, providing a window of hope for reconsideration.
The NNPP leader reiterated that no defection has taken place yet and expressed optimism that Governor Yusuf would remain aligned with the party, highlighting the support and loyalty he enjoys within NNPP.
Kwankwaso warned that a defection could reshape public perception, suggesting that people might view Ganduje more favorably despite past grievances, underscoring the emotional and political weight of the situation for party members and supporters.

Trump Claims Maduro Copies His Dance Moves Amid Venezuela Raid.
United States President Donald Trump has accused Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro of imitating his dance moves while also condemning him for violent actions, including alleged torture and killings.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to Nivo News, Trump made the remarks during a speech to Republican lawmakers at the Kennedy Center in Washington on Tuesday, delivered in the wake of the U.S. military operation that captured Maduro and his wife. The president described Maduro as a violent figure responsible for the deaths of many people and referenced an alleged torture site in Caracas, though he did not provide specific details.
Trump noted that Maduro’s public dancing had drawn the attention of U.S. officials and suggested it was among the factors influencing the decision to act against him. In a lighthearted comparison, Trump claimed that Maduro often attempted to imitate his own dance moves. During his address, Trump even performed a brief dance demonstration and highlighted that his wife disapproves of his dancing, contrasting it with the conduct of previous U.S. presidents.
While the capture of Maduro remained a key topic, Trump’s speech also focused heavily on the upcoming 2026 midterm elections. He warned Republican lawmakers of potential political consequences if the party failed to secure victories and referenced pardons he had issued to participants in the January 6 Capitol events.
Trump also encouraged lawmakers to prioritize pressing domestic issues, such as healthcare and the rising cost of living, noting that public concerns over affordability of basic goods must be addressed to maintain voter confidence.

“If I Was Irrelevant, Why Visit My House?” — Orji Kalu Fires Back At Otti.
The Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has challenged claims of his political irrelevance, asserting that Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, would not have emerged victorious in the last governorship election without his intervention.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to Nivo News, Kalu made the assertion in a statement issued on Tuesday by his media office and signed by George Maduka. The statement alleged that Governor Otti personally visited Kalu’s residence in Igbere late on the night before the election to seek his support.
The senator further claimed that key figures involved in the Labour Party’s 2023 campaign in Abia State, including the party’s state coordinator, Umeh Kalu, were part of discussions with him concerning the governorship contest. He argued that such engagements contradict claims that he lacked political influence in the state.
Questioning the narrative of irrelevance, the statement asked why his residence would have been visited on the eve of the election if his political standing was insignificant. Kalu maintained that the ruling party does not rely on Governor Otti to secure electoral victories in Abia, insisting that the All Progressives Congress remains cohesive and formidable in the state.
The senator reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the APC’s success in Abia during the 2027 general elections. His remarks followed Governor Otti’s endorsement of the Labour Party’s candidate for Abia North, a move aimed at unseating Kalu in the next election cycle. The governor had earlier declared that the Labour Party would defeat the senator in 2027.

“Unacceptable And Illegal” — United Nations Condemns U.S. Action In Venezuela.
The United Nations has strongly criticised the United States over its recent military invasion of Venezuela and the arrest of the country’s president, Nicolas Maduro, describing the justification offered by Washington as unacceptable and contrary to international law.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to Nivo News, the UN’s position was conveyed on Tuesday in Geneva by the spokesperson for the UN Human Rights Office, Ravina Shamdasanie, who warned that the use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of another country violates fundamental principles of international law. She called on the global community to collectively condemn the action taken by the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump.
Shamdasanie stated that the invasion undermines the international legal framework established to preserve global peace and security. She stressed that no state has the right to threaten or use force against another sovereign nation, noting that such actions weaken the foundations of international order.
The UN official acknowledged that the organisation has long documented the deterioration of human rights conditions in Venezuela, but insisted that meaningful change cannot be achieved through unilateral military intervention. She warned that using human rights concerns as justification for armed action is unacceptable and risks worsening an already fragile situation.
According to her, the invasion has prompted Venezuelan authorities to declare a state of emergency, enabling measures such as property seizures, restrictions on movement, and suspension of the right to protest. She cautioned that far from advancing human rights, the military intervention damages the architecture of global security and makes all countries less safe.
Meanwhile, the deposed Venezuelan leader, Nicolas Maduro, has pleaded not guilty to charges brought against him at a New York court, including allegations related to narcotics and weapons trafficking. Maduro maintained his innocence, stating that he was forcibly taken from his residence in Caracas during the U.S. military operation.
The 63-year-old insisted that he remains the legitimate president of Venezuela, describing the operation as a kidnapping and reiterating that he bears no guilt for the charges read against him in court.
