Addressing residents in Okirika during his Thank You Visit to the local government areas, Wike specifically referred to Governor Sim Fubara, warning that no one would be allowed to use Rivers State funds to hire voters from any region for the 2027 elections. He added that individuals engaging in such practices would not secure political tickets for the forthcoming elections.

Wike also criticized political figures who had recently aligned themselves with President Bola Tinubu, declaring that their newfound allegiance would not guarantee them automatic candidacy. He emphasized that the state’s resources should not be exploited for political gain, recalling the perceived missteps of 2023 as a cautionary example.

He said, in part, that the focus should be on the “Renewed Hope” family rather than party affiliations and urged citizens to support candidates of integrity. Wike stressed the importance of voting for individuals with strong character, stating that such decisions would ensure accountability and peace of mind for the electorate.

He concluded by acknowledging past mistakes in political choices while pledging that the errors would be corrected in the next election cycle.
