The win reinforced Nigeria’s position as one of the early frontrunners of the tournament. Goals from Paul Onuachu and a second-half brace by Raphael Onyedika proved decisive against a determined Ugandan side.

Nigeria took the lead in the 28th minute when Onuachu rose above the defense to head in the opener after sustained pressure. Uganda responded after halftime, with Salim Magoola reducing the deficit in the 56th minute.
