The decision, confirmed at the State Executive Council’s final meeting of the year in Port Harcourt, follows recent government adjustments prompted by a Supreme Court ruling on the state’s political crisis, which affected several cabinet members, including the former Attorney General.

A statement from the Ministry of Information and Communications indicated that Green will oversee the Justice Ministry while continuing to supervise the Ministry of Sports until a new commissioner is appointed. The move is intended to ensure continuity of government operations and maintain stability in both ministries as the state enters the new year.

In a related development, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, pledged that the “leadership mistake” in Rivers State would be rectified in 2027. Speaking during a gratitude visit to Khana in Bori, Khana Local Government Area, Wike emphasized that his visit was not politically motivated but aimed at appreciating residents for their support of him and President Bola Tinubu. He reiterated that elected leaders are meant to serve the people, not pursue personal agendas.
