According to Nivo News, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT), Senator Adolphus Wabara, has firmly dismissed claims that the opposition party is planning to establish a National Caretaker Committee to oversee its affairs.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Wabara described reports suggesting the existence or consideration of a caretaker committee at the national level as false, stressing that no such arrangement is being contemplated within the party’s leadership structure.

He reaffirmed that the National Working Committee (NWC) led by Barrister Tanimu Turaki, which emerged from the party’s Ibadan National Convention, remains the legitimate and constitutionally recognised leadership of the PDP.

The BoT Chairman alleged that the rumours were being peddled by impostors working in collaboration with external interests with the intention of destabilising and weakening the party.

Wabara further explained that the Board of Trustees, which serves as the conscience of the party and custodian of its assets, is not aware of any caretaker committee plan, describing such an idea as unnecessary and unacceptable.

He maintained that the PDP had duly conducted its national convention in line with constitutional provisions and therefore has no justification for a caretaker arrangement. He added that the party is awaiting the outcome of ongoing court proceedings concerning its leadership and would fully respect and comply with the court’s verdict.

The former Senate President also emphasized that the PDP remains resolute in resisting any attempt to undermine democratic pluralism, insisting that the party would oppose moves aimed at turning Nigeria into a one-party state.
