According to Nivo News, the explosion, which occurred on Wednesday, claimed the lives of five worshippers and left several others injured, sparking widespread concern over security in the region.

In a statement released on Thursday, Vice-President Kashim Shettima conveyed the Federal Government’s strong condemnation of the attack, describing it as a reprehensible assault on innocent citizens and a direct threat to national peace.

The Vice-President revealed that President Tinubu had instructed security agencies to intensify operations across Borno State with immediate effect, stressing the need to prevent further acts of violence and restore public confidence.

He added that the Federal Government is working closely with the Borno State Government, security agencies and local authorities to identify and apprehend those responsible for the bombing, while also strengthening preventive measures.

Shettima assured Nigerians that the administration would not tolerate any attempt to undermine the country’s peace and security, noting that security operatives are working tirelessly to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.

Beyond Borno State, he disclosed that security measures are also being reinforced across the North-East and other strategic parts of the country to protect vulnerable communities and critical infrastructure.

Expressing confidence in the nation’s security framework, the Vice-President said the authorities would not only apprehend those behind the attack but also unravel the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

He extended condolences to the Borno State Government, residents of Maiduguri and families affected by the tragedy, assuring them of the Federal Government’s support during the difficult period.

Reaffirming the administration’s determination to combat terrorism, Shettima emphasized that national security remains a top priority of the Tinubu-led government, adding that adequate resources and support would continue to be provided to security agencies to decisively defeat terrorism in all its forms.
