According to Nivo News, the award-winning artiste announced his political move on Tuesday via his verified (formerly Twitter) account, stating his intention to travel to Osogbo, the Osun State capital, to collect his party membership card.

“I will be live in Osun to pick up my @AccordPartyNG membership card @ IMOLE HOUSE OSOGBO tomorrow… see you soon ACCORDINGLY. Cc @AAdeleke_01,” Davido posted online.

The singer’s decision comes barely two weeks after Governor Adeleke adopted the Accord Party following his exit from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The governor had formally announced his defection on December 9, 2025, at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Osogbo, in the presence of national and state leaders of the Accord Party.

Governor Adeleke cited the prolonged leadership crisis at the PDP at the national level as the reason for his switch, noting that he joined the Accord Party on November 6 after extensive consultations with political stakeholders and opinion leaders across the state. The move is aimed at safeguarding his re-election ambition and ensuring political stability in Osun.

Davido had previously hinted at his political alignment by reposting his uncle’s announcement on social media with the caption “Jeje…”, fueling speculation about his political intentions. His formal decision to join the Accord Party now confirms full support for Governor Adeleke as the state prepares for the 2026 governorship election.
