The letter, obtained by journalists, outlines what Obienyem described as “grave concerns” over Omokri’s suitability to represent Nigeria in a diplomatic capacity. A significant portion of the document highlights Omokri’s past public criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly before and during the 2023 election, including his participation in protests and use of social media to question the President’s fitness for office.

Obienyem emphasized that Omokri had repeatedly mocked President Tinubu’s health and made public allegations regarding his academic records and corruption. He argued that such actions reflect instability, shifting loyalties, and a focus on personal advancement over national interest, posing potential risks to bilateral relations.

“This is not a personal dispute but a matter of public responsibility and the integrity of Nigeria’s diplomatic representation,” Obienyem stated. He added that he is ready to provide further documentation, including videos and social media posts, to substantiate his claims and reiterated that his objections would be formally raised wherever Omokri is assigned.
