The blockade caused major traffic congestion, creating significant delays and challenges for motorists heading toward Lokoja and surrounding areas, especially during the busy festive season.

In response, the Minister of Works, David Umahi, ordered the immediate reopening of completed sections of the expressway and authorized the deployment of all necessary measures to restore smooth traffic flow and ease the difficulties faced by road users. The directive, implemented on Sunday, December 21, 2025, has reportedly decongested the affected corridor and improved the movement of vehicles.

Umahi urged motorists to remain patient, disciplined, and cautious while travelling, emphasizing the government’s commitment to ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable road transportation across the nation.
