BREAKING: Super Eagles Unveil Squad Numbers for AFCON 2025!.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially announced the squad numbers for Nigeria’s Super Eagles ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Striker Victor Osimhen will continue to wear his iconic number 9 shirt, while newly appointed captain Wilfred Ndidi retains the number 4 jersey.
Lazio midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru has been assigned the prestigious number 10 shirt, while regulars Ademola Lookman, Samuel Chukwueze, and Frank Onyeka will keep numbers 7, 11, and 8, respectively.
New call-ups Salim Fago, Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, Ryan Alebiosu, and Tochukwu Nnadi have been allocated numbers 25, 26, 27, and 28.
The Super Eagles are targeting their fourth AFCON title and will begin their campaign against Tanzania’s Taifa Stars in Fès next Tuesday.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, defender Calvin Bassey expressed confidence in the team’s prospects. “Yeah, 100%. I think the last AFCON I was 23. I have matured, a lot of the team have matured, and we have gained a lot of experience,” Bassey told Fulham TV.
Bassey, who featured in the squad that narrowly lost 2-1 to hosts Côte d’Ivoire in the previous edition, will represent Nigeria in a major tournament for the second time. Following the retirement of former captain William Troost-Ekong, Bassey and Semi Ajayi are expected to form the core of Coach Eric Chelle’s defence.
