Atiku, Amaechi Among Prominent Politicians Said To Be Marked For Arrest.
According to Nivo News, public affairs analyst and activist Adekunle Adebayo has sounded the alarm over an alleged plot to arrest and intimidate key opposition figures in Nigeria, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Adebayo stated that the purported plan is part of a broader strategy aimed at weakening opposition politics and entrenching a de facto one-party system in the country. He claimed that former Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai, along with Atiku and Amaechi, have also been marked for arrest. Other notable political figures reportedly under threat include Isa Ali Pantami, Rauf Aregbesola, and Kashim Ibrahim Imam.
He further suggested that the alleged plot follows previous arrests and detentions of former governors Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, Chris Ngige of Anambra State, and former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.
Adebayo warned that executing such arrests would constitute serious violations of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), undermining personal liberty, freedom of association and expression, equality before the law, and judicial independence. He stressed that selective law enforcement based on political affiliation is fundamentally incompatible with a constitutional democracy.
The activist urged Nigerians, civil society groups, and the international community to monitor developments closely, cautioning that failure to do so risks a political landscape where democratic institutions exist only in form, while power is consolidated through coercion and selective justice.
