The PDP faction disclosed that the engagement was convened to explore possible resolutions to the internal dispute that has unsettled the party’s leadership structure. During the meeting, Prof. Amupitan acknowledged that INEC is fully aware of the legal battles currently pending before the courts concerning the PDP’s leadership.

It was gathered that representatives of the opposing factions presented their respective positions in detail, after which the INEC Chairman stated that the commission would refrain from taking any definitive action until a final ruling is delivered by the Court of Appeal.

Despite this position, the factional spokesperson reiterated that the Kabiru Turaki-led National Working Committee remains the legitimate leadership of the party. The group maintained that the leadership emerged from a valid national convention, even though the outcome is being contested in court.

Speaking at the end of the meeting, Turaki affirmed that while awaiting the court’s pronouncement, his leadership would continue to perform the role of a responsible opposition, holding the government accountable on key national issues including security, infrastructure, education, and healthcare.
