According to Nivo News, the Beninese government has issued arrest warrants for those implicated, with Col. Pascal Tigri identified as the prime suspect. Speaking at a press briefing in Cotonou, Talon confirmed that the suspects fled the country following the foiled plot and crossed international borders.

“They have been able to cross the borders. We have issued warrants against them and requested the concerned countries to cooperate and deliver them to us,” the president said, adding that he is confident regional authorities will act on the request. “I hope they will cooperate and deliver them to us, because they have to answer.”

President Talon provided details of Tigri’s escape, explaining that the suspect left a camp in haste, traveling by car without taking any personal belongings and leaving behind a boy at the site. He added that Tigri later claimed he was absent when the coup attempt occurred, a claim that reportedly allowed him and others to flee across the border.

Talon emphasised that cooperation on extradition is vital to easing diplomatic tensions arising from the alleged attempt to destabilise Benin Republic. Authorities have activated international collaboration channels and formally notified relevant countries, urging prompt action to locate and return the suspects.

Reports indicate that Tigri has fled to Niger Republic. As of press time, Nigerien authorities have not issued an official response to the extradition request.
